CRIMES AND PERFORMANCE OF SMALL AND MEDIUM SCALE ENTERPRISES IN NIGERIA Murat Akyuz, Ibrahim Abdullahi Ahmed, Michael Isaac Opusunju, Abstract Government of Nigeria have control the activities of kidnapping and terrorism in order to ensure that SMEs perform credibly. They employed the military and other securities agents to monitored, arrest and control the activities of kidnapping and terrorism in Nigeria. Yet, the output of SMEs is still low. The study investigates the effect of crime on the performance of small and medium scale enterprises in Nigeria. The study used ex-post facto research design. The population of this study comprise of all the SMEs in Nigeria which is 72838 and this was also used as the sample size. The study collected data from National Bureau of Statistics.
